Rahul Gandhi

It is true that, Rahul Gandhi’s  recent speeches and one liners have caught the attention of the nation . But they are not enough to accept him as a  person capable of  leading a national party which ruled this nation for many years, to manage tough coalition partners with various demands , and to clean the party from group clashes  at state level units  and  to elevate the image of India   by effective articulation of achievements of India , as a better performing nation in all the international forums . He has a big challenge before him since, he has to deal with a formidable partnership of Amid shah and Modi  during 2019 election campaign .The very shabby implementation of demonetization and GST which have caused considerable sufferings to the general public and the business community and the vast gap between the promises made and in 1014 and the performance during the 5 years and the insecurity  experienced by the minorities can be very effectively propagated if, Rahul Gandhi forms a formidable team consisting of younger and senior leaders,  who are popular among the party workers at the grass root level  . Relying on one man show is dangerous for the congress party’s future. He should have frequent interactions with local leaders .

Problems created for release of Padmavathi film

India known for the values such as non violence , tolerance to differing views , freedom in creative fields , peaceful coexistence in spite of  differences in culture, religious principles , languages and traditions looks like changed nation  currently. Fringe groups have always been trouble makers. But, all along, they were insignificant and could never become a threat to others lives and properties whenever, creative works or personal practices were not to their liking. Of late they have become very strong pressure groups in imposing their will on any activity or personality or group .The  main reason appear to be the  present government’s silence over their atrocious actions . The film sector   seems to be the main target of these fringe elements. Any small group can stall a project if it is not to their liking. How many groups will undertake the responsibility of censoring a film?  How many masters the creators can please? The government should give consideration for the huge investment and effort that goes behind a costly project and the tax revenue they get from film industry and protect their interest by banning the fringe groups from taking law into their hands. Hopefully, the new India we are talking about will be not display characteristics such as intolerance, restrictions on freedom of expression and violence for differing in views.

Status of Muslim women in india

While I agree with most of the   points highlighted by  Shahana Munazir  in her article, “ Inclusive lessons” (23.11.17)   I differ on one point . Census 2011 data reveals to what extent the Muslim women are lagging behind in the social, economic., legal and political spheres  than  women in other communities of India . Political empowerment should be preceded by social and economic empowerment . The concentration should be  primarily, on higher education and income earning capacity . To day  Muslim women belonging to deprived sections  are unable join the main stream of society and enjoy inclusiveness due innumerable hurdles on the path of  higher education, skill training and ability to earn decent income either through self employment or jobs  .  While higher education gives them , knowledge, exposure to outside world  and confidence , independent  income   gives them , the courage , inner strength to   face challenges of life, ways to  better their standard of living and to command dignified  living . All these qualities will move them naturally towards political empowerment in the next stage. Hence ,urgent efforts are needed towards elimination of hurdles in the way of social and economic empowerment   of Muslim women for inclusiveness. After all ,empowerment is the result of evolution and not revolution .

the raids on Sasikala clan

It is difficult  to understand the political thinking and psychology of the political parties operating in Tamil Nadu .  All these years ,all the opposing  parties to AIADMK were expecting and demanding stern actions by central agencies dealing with economic offenses against the Sasikala and her entire clan after few  investigative journals repeatedly published enormous details regarding their disproportionate wealth grown over two decades. There was a collective  anger of the concerned citizens towards the central agencies  for not controlling their economic offenses despite the allegations of accumulation  of lands ,huge  buildings , estates , farm houses  , cinema halls , resorts , industrial ventures and monopoly over  liquor business . But now, when  the  investigative agencies of the central government have undertaken a major , consolidated , well planned and organized raids on the complaints on one family and their relatives  and that too, has successfully guarded  the secrecy of the operation , instead of appreciating  their action  for taking  at least “ late than never “ actions ,why do the media and opposition parties are picturising the much needed operation    as political vendetta of the united state and central governments against a family ? Why are they opposed to these raids without any logic or reasoning ? It is beyond our comprehension .

Plight of Tamil Nadu citizens

Tamil Nadu citizens are spared from non stop coverage of AIADMK affairs from the day Jeyalaitha’s was hospitalized till the rain havoc has created problems for the daily life of the people . We are so fed up of shallow and contradictory explanations given by the spokes persons of the ruling party for any question thrown to them by the anchors of news channels . We  wonder how Jeyalalitha has kept all these big mouths silent till she was in power. We do not know how long the central government is going to punish the Tamil Nadu people by prolonging the life of   this government  which is not bothered about   least governance  but, busy with celebrations for various reasons in grand manner with cut outs, flex boards  convoy of cars and gathered audience lured with material benefits . They are least bothered about peoples sufferings  due to absence of local governments, rain havoc, protests of people over certain central government schemes affecting the  cultivable lands, grievances of the farmers, students employees of various categories and medias vigilance on corrupt activities. We are waiting for clear whether after prolonged dark clouds  .
