National Health Policy -2015

The  declaration of National Health Policy is a step in the right direction , but the  policy’s suggestion to  increase the government ‘s spending on health sector to 2.5 % is inadequate to rectify the existing gaps in health sector are very correct . Converting the “dysfunctional heath care system” of India  is a mighty and highly challenging task .How can the 2.5% allotment of fund will help in filling the gaps  in the three “M”s viz., Man power, Material and Money which have made the health care system a non performing one? India needs higher percentage of fund allotment for health sector since  health is an essential component of human resource development . If we thinly distribute the allotted fund  on various requirements, we will fail again in achieving the goals of National Health Policy -1915 as we have miserably failed  in achieving the goal of Health For All by 2000 AD.

Rajastan ordinance

The ordinance passed in Rajasthan prescribing minimum educational qualification for those who want to contest local elections is very illogical and unjustifiable. . Any social reform can be brought in only through an evolutionary process and through an ordinance which is a tool of revolution. A nation which could not eradicate illiteracy in the last six decades due it’s failure to cater to the educational needs of village children particularly the poor,  has no right to punish the people in this manner. If the village schools have the right number of teachers , proper class rooms, benches, boards, drinking water and toilets with water we would have reached 100 % literacy long back
