The interview of Rahul Gandhi to Times now

The interview of Rahul Gandhi to Times Now channel gave an opportunity for the   Indian citizens and political observers  to understand certain of his political ideas. It revealed that he is very displeased with the existing style of functioning of the Indian political parties in general and has certain ideologies to reform the Congress party in particular . But the nation wanted to know what exactly are   his polices and programmes to “empower women, the youth and to make India a manufacturing hub” about  which he was repetitive. At the end of the interview one is left with the opinion that his vision for making India a vibrant  democracy  is broad and ambitious but, his shoulders are not broad enough to carry the burden of solving  India’s burning problems waiting for immediate solutions . His lack of clarity on certain issues regarding corruption, Delhi riot etc., revealed that he has miles to go before undertaking the huge responsibility of  leading India’s 1.2 billion people

Gang rape in west Bengal

All along the international community has been  considering India as an  unsafe tourist destination for women tourist. The gang rape incident in West Bengal which is ruled by women chief minister conveys that   Indian women too are not safe even   within their own community. What to think of the mind set of local people particularly ,the fellow women residents of that locality  who could allow ,  tolerate and remained silent spectators of a most cruel , shameful and horrifying punishment ? The co accused, the man, escaped punishment because of his ability to pay the fine. That means,  a woman’s indignity is the substitute for money . It is a shame on Indian rulers at the center and a states to   tolerate the  continued misdeeds of  khap panchayats. They should  enact laws quickly ,with severe punishment for violations of the ,banning   kangaroo courts   without playing vote bank politics,  if, poor Indian women too are to be guaranteed  with the right to live with dignity .

arwind Kejriwal

People who were looking at Arwind Kejriwal as arising star and a savior in the much maligned Indian political scene and wanting to support his efforts in cleansing it by joining his party are now disillusioned  with his immature political gimmicks and have postponed their decision and want to  wait and observe his performance for some more time. Repeated  misadventures  will  surely turn into costly  blunders . Where is his sense of justice when he is solidly supporting the irrational and unlawful actions of his law minister and leave him free from any punishment , while the duty bound and fearless police men were punished to satisfy his ego ? Where is his sense of responsibility towards  Delhi citizen when 4000 police men who were other wise engaged in safeguarding the safety and security of the  capital city and its citizens were deployed near the dharna site ? Various government departments are under state responsibility and most of them are exploiting Delhi citizens in different ways , Why can’t he concentrate on purifying them first?

Sex selective abortion

Often articles and editorials are  written on sex selective abortion  that prevails not only in India but, also  in countries where the Asian population lives. Laws and their strict enforcement alone  will never succeed in stopping the sex selective abortions . Several surveys have conveyed that it prevails more among the educated and affluent families because, the poor can not afford to avail the sex determination test through various  methods , if it  is banned in a country. The mind set of couples towards girl children will change only when a society reaches a stage wherein the boys and girls enjoy not only equal rights but also bear equal responsibilities. If the girls are allowed to enjoy only the rights and will not bear the duties towards their families, the  gender bias  of opposite type will set in. It may take a longer time to reach that stage of equal status to boys and girls in every aspect of life.   But ,that alone can provide a permanent solution to the problem of sex selective abortions.

Deeds of Arvind Kejriwal

The current activities of Arwind Kejriwal look like gimmicks to get the whole nation's attention before General election. Why should a  chief minister of Delhi  resort to Darna to get something done by the home ministry in a minor matter and create law and  order problem like a street protestor? It looks as though, too much has  happened in too a short a time to AAP and they are not mentally prepared to give priority to   good governance as promised to their voters.  Instead, he and his cabinet colleagues are  wasting their time, energy and attention on  trivial matters  and adopt a policy of confrontation  with law enforcing authorities and  towards the central government. He should learn to respect the constitutionally assigned division of powers and respect laws of the land  and also remember that, sweeping  over night changes are not possible in a parliamentary democracy.  All the good image he has built up so far  will vanish into thin air ,if this is going to be his style functioning as chief minister. The youth who  supported him so far are not fools to be taken for a ride with his  gimmicks  which are  far away from practicalities of governance. They will soon conclude that he lacks political maturity and capacity to govern Delhi as promised  He should allot some time to think, why the media which made him so popular is reporting his recent activities in an unfavorable tone

AAP and it's idealogy

I am not sure whether, the neglect of ideology can prove ruinous for the AAP’s cause, I agree with the statement of Vidya Subramanyam(too scared to turn right and left –Jan17th The Hindu , article ) that, “the AAP has a historic responsibility to make a clean break from the past and emerge as a party that can combine systemic overhaul with a progressive, clearly-articulated vision” though I am doubtful about the fact that,  “the neglect of ideology can prove ruinous for this cause”. We need to give them some time since too much has happened to them in too short a time. They  are currently dealing with lot  of starting troubles mostly created by high profile people who have joined AAP with personal ambitions . Rushing them with all the aspirations of the people who have been longing for clean, efficient and people centric administration might choke them and drive them towards inefficiency  in handing matters confronting them currently. The youth of this country seems to believe tat AAP is led by a younger person with integrity and ably assisted by team of honest intellectuals and experienced administrators and hope for change in India’s political scene. The rush of the youth towards AAP is disturbing the major political parties proved by their merciless comments on AAP's affairs .The media atleast can wait and watch for some time and then give its verdict on AAP’s performance

income inequality in India

Every one is  grudging  when subsides in different forms are given to the poor and call it an unproductive expenditure and burden on the exchequer. But when tax incentives running into several crores of rupees is announced for the corporate sector , it is accepted as a suitable economic  measure to  accelerate  growth as if, the gains of growth are  shared  by them with every section the population. If that is the case, India   will not be holding the rank of 56  in income inequality. In fact,  it is the land, mining, water and  sand mafia ,  aided by the corporate sector , are  instrumental in making the politicians and the beauracrates  corrupt. The direct result of black money is inflation and the  burden of inflation is more on the poor. Hence any measure to accelerate growth and control inflation should strike at the roots of black money.
