The massive victory of the BJP in
the 2019 election has demonstrated that, it has
succeeded in influencing and consolidating the majority community in all the North
Indian and North East states towards
their Hindutva agenda . It looks as though that, for these state’s
voters , joblessness, demonetisation ill effects , slow down of industrial
sector’s performance , grievances of the farmers , GST complications, ill
treatment of minorities in several ways , curbs on freedom of expression ,
murders of intellectuals ,journalists and whistle blowers , slow down of the
economy , interference in the functioning of the constitutional bodies etc.,
are not matters of importance. It seems that, these voters want
Modi back to implement primarily the
hard core Hindutva agenda. May be they want saffronisation of all the social ,
economic and political institutions. We wonder, what impact it is going to have
on the principles of secularism, federalism and pluralism which had been practiced
in India and enabled the people to live
with harmony and peace so far.
