justice to women in sexual assault cases

Women file a case   in the court on sexual assault on them very late. It is because, they have to assess the extent of family and friends a support that would be available for a long time, the legal expenses involved, ability to cope the mental stress involved while dealing with prolonged legal battle running into few years and the ability to with stand humiliation they would face during cross examinations and also the economic and political power of the offenders. After years of ordeal with the court procedures, the victim in Tharun Tej Pal sexual assault case is gifted with the favourable judgment to the offender. Brindha karat in her article (31.5.21) on this case has exposed many questionable missing links in dealing with this case. It is good that, the Goa government is going for appeal. When will India decides to introduce judicial reforms , since the prolonged delay in the justice delivery system  running into years in this country is  eroding the fear of law and the faith of the people in the judicial system and have even questioned the legitimacy of the judiciary. The end result is that, lacks of sexual assault cases are m not reported.
